US Approves Ukraine’s WTO Bid
KIEV, Ukraine -- On Monday, March 6, Ukrainian Economy Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and U.S. Trade Representative Rob Portman signed an official bilateral protocol regarding Ukraine’s accession to the World Trade Organization.

This information was reported by the Itar-Tass agency which quoted the official statement made by the Ukrainian Embassy in the United States.
The Ukrainian minister named the signed protocol on mutual access to the trade markets as a “good agreement, an agreement in which there are no winners and no losers”.
“Ukraine will doubtlessly join the WTO. We need this for economic development and bilateral relations. We are convinced that our economic growth will be based on WTO rules,” the minister said.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk also said that he hopes that a bilateral protocol between the United States and Russia will be signed as soon as possible and negotiations regarding Russia’s accession to the WTO will be activated.
In his turn, Rob Portman commented on the agreement by saying that this step will allow the United States and Ukraine to “deepen trade and economic relations”.
